before and after

here are a couple of before and after shots of our bathroom remodel. on the left, you see me preparing to paint (yes- that bright green, named "absinthe" was the former color of our bathroom) and where we put in the new vanity. the old floor was standard issue rental-type vinyl (like everyones first apartment had!) you can also see that no matter what, it is a very small room. we put in a corner vanity to maximize space. it is actally larger than the old, square one, but the entire room seems bigger now! on the right you see the new wall color, trim, and floor. the colors are a bit off, but they are primarily a sort of olive, grey, rust and chocolate. the background behind the photos is the coordinating curtain.

i'll have 300 of those

last weekend we went to see 300. it was suprisingly less graphic than i expected. i had been shocked when we saw sin city, and that was a detective story. this was a cg-enhanced battle movie that was less gory. anyway, it was a great movie. the actors were great, the costumes were great. everything beautiful enough to make me want to be a spartan! i do wonder if the handsome chiseled chests of the 300 spartan soldiers were cg...

are wii having fun yet?

we finally got our wii- maybe two weeks ago, actually. it has been even more fun than i ever imagined! gwynneth is the best wii bowler in our house. she has this amazingly fast and straight ball. anyway, gwynneth and i were playing the other day, 8th frame. gwynneth's got all strikes and spares (i dont remember the score, it was pretty irrelevant). i, on the other hand, haven't got anything! i may have had 50 points. gwynneth says "wow mom- you don't have any strikes or spares or anything, that must be soooo emabarassing!" keep in mind she is 5.

happy easter

easter went good. the kids had a blast, and the rain waited until we were done with the easter egg hunt. baby j had his first easter egg hunt and it was too cute! at first he seemed disinterested, then someone said the eggs were balls, then he was off!
miss k (now too old for such childish things) must also have had a blast, because her blog says "easter was o.k., i guess." this was the first time in years that norm got to be home for the festivities... he used to have to work all day on sunday.

our goddaughter was born easter sunday! IO Isabella Jane... i can't wait to meet her!

pan's labyrinth

this past weekend, norm and i took a break from remodeling our bathroom to see "pan's labyrinth". it was phenomenal. i was expecting more contrast between fantasy and reality, but was not dissapointed to find that the two worlds were juxtaposed in equality. moments of triumph and defeat. pain and joy. light and dark. i left the theater speachless.
more about our remodeling efforts once i download the photos...
