mary mary quite contrary

day 1. i am trying again. the first time i tried a vegetable garden was three or four years ago. this is the same plot, but i had divided it into a flower garden in front, and some veggies in the back. the flower garden was beautiful. the veggies- not so great. i had lettuce that was too bitter, corn that never matured, and the puppy ate everything else! apparently black labs have an affinity for tomatoes and cantaloupe. well, puppy is grown up now, and strangely deterred by the tiny white fencing around the garden. this year we have done only vegetables. and cantaloupe, but we will see how that goes. the marigolds we put in because i hear that marigolds keep away pests and evil spirits. we will see. i will keep you posted.

don't it make my brown eyes blue

recently, brenda, erin and myself went on a gals weekend getaway to the beach-house at seal rock. while there, we decided to indulge in the local scene. to my surprise, the undersea gardens was really just a big dirty fishbowl! while grieving over the wasted $10.00 admission, we decided to tour the wax museum and ripley's believe it or not! believe it or not, i had my shrunken head recipe wrong all this time! the disappointment didn't stop there either. we went to the rogue brewery for a sunday brunch pajama party and we were the only ones in pajamas. and they charged us too much for the bargain vodka bloody mary bar. and the staff didn't get there to open the place until at least half an hour after the party was supposed to start. boo hoo. the entire trip was not disappointing however. we had gorgeous weather, delicious food and plenty of great company.
